Tomorrow's the big day!

We are very excited today is our last day with the PEG tube. Woohoo! No more netting. No more tape! No more worrying about rushing to the ER when it gets pulled accidentally. Evelyn doesn't seem nervous at all now, but I think when she gets there she will be. THey are refusing to sedate her unless we reschedule down the road. We've planned this date around our work schedules and childcare for Sophie so rescheduling really doesn't work out well. I'm not happy. I just pray it isn't too traumatic for her and she's able to quickly forget the pain. We will give her some Tylenol with Codeine before we leave to take the edge off. Hopefully it will be enough. I can't believe they won't sedate her. They won't even do an IV without sedation, but will yank a tube out of my kid's abdomen???? I will be a happy girl once Children's is a thing of the past (in ummm about 6 years).

I hope we can adapt easily to this new system and don't have too many glitches and it works better for Evelyn. She has show and tell at school this week. Maybe she'll show her brand new button! :)

Sophie goes to my parents tonight until Tuesday and I know she will enjoy the one on one attention.

Speaking of my big Sophie, she is officially in a big girl bed! We did it Monday and she had zero problems with the transition. She is super excited and loves her "big girl pepito bed" just like Evelyn. We got her a night light Patricks sister recommended called the Good Nite Light. It is a blue moon when you should be sleeping, and turns to a yellow sun when it's ok to get up or call for us. It works better than we ever imagined. She doesn't even make a peep until it's yellow! Thanks Katie!!!!! I can't believe she's such a big girl. Her crib is sitting her disassembled in the office and I'm sad. But I know we will use it again soon!

We had our big ultrasound this past week. Baby is measuring perfect at about 10 inches and 1 pound. Doctor knows the sex, but we don't :) Baby seems perfectly healthy and didn't have any problems he noticed. However we know now that doesn't mean a whole lot. Evelyn had a "perfect" ultrasound as well and obviously didn't quite turn out to be a perfectly normal child. But since having her we are so laid back that we will happily accept and love any child God gives to us, regardless of problems. Not that others wouldn't, but for us, it doesn't even really worry us anymore. We've had our special needs child and we see how much joy she brings us, and if God wants to bless us again with a child like that we will joyfully love and accept that child. In fact, if you ask most parents of children with special needs, almost all agree that deep down these kids are the most loving innocent little beings in the world and so so loved. Just like our Evie.

Evies doing great in school. She's still so exhausted at the end of the day but each week seems to get better and she gets used to it more. No issues from the teachers and she listens and does what she is supposed to perfectly. She has show and tell this week so she is very excited and of course is brining her Pepito night light. Tomorrow is also pajama day and guess what she's wearing? Her pepito pajamas! This child is obsessed with birds :) She had her first field trip last week to the Wehr nature center for a nature walk and had fun. When we asked what she looked at on the walk she responded "Ella" and that's it. Ella is her friend there :)

She is supposed to have another field trip this week on a day she normally doesn't go but she doesn't get to go :( I have a presentation to do for a mom's club, sophie's going to the sitters and Patrick has to work so theres no way for her to go.

Speaking of school, we also wanted to bring up something else. Next year we will somehow have to afford two private school tuitions. I can't believe it's come so fast! Evelyn will be starting 4K at our Church's school. We had planned to send her to public school until first grade due to her problems and weren't anticipating a tuition for her. However shes made so much progress since getting her tube there are no problems sending her to our Church's school. We then realized Sophie will be starting preschool as well where Evelyn currently goes. So needless to say we weren't as prepared as we wish we had been. So instead of Christmas/birthday presents for the girls, if you'd like to take the money you would have spent on presents and put it towards their tuition next year that would be very much appreciated! A much more worthwhile cause than toys :) Hopefully we are able to send them both to school! I have no clue what we will do when they both are at St Johns in two years! EEK! We will just try to not think about that. It's so important to us for the girls to have a Christian or Catholic education (preschool for them is a Christian school, and regular school is a Catholic school). But I guess if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. There isn't a whole lot we can do about that.

Well that's all. I'll write again after she gets her button tomorrow. Just say a little prayer that it goes well, is relatively painless and Evelyn is a brave little girl once again. She's been through so much and she's such a trooper!
