Last Friday was Evelyn's first day of preschool. She was very excited when she woke up and talked about it all through breakfast. She had no clue what it was other than the fact that she needed to go potty like a big girl to go there :)
They had a short day the first week and parents were supposed to come. So we dropped Sophia off at my friend Sarah's house and off we went.
We got lots of cute pictures. She was very excited when we went inside. She had to find her name tag which she did good on. Then she had to find her coat rack and hang up her coat. The kids got to play while the adults talked to the teachers.
Evelyn played with the toy kitchen and play doh, and puzzles. She didn't really interact with the other kids, but she never has before either. We hope preschool will improve her social skills.
Then they had "rug time" which I was nervous about. They were supposed to sit Indian style on the floor which she wouldn't do. She just laid on the floor. But at least she stayed. They sang songs and she had to tell them her name and the teacher asked each child if they were a boy or a girl. We had never really told her she was a girl, but she got it right! However, when they asked her name she said she was Sophie....but oh well...can't get everything right :)
She threw a little tantrum when we left, but knew she was coming back. Now she talks a lot about school. I hope having other authority figures (the teachers) will help her behavior. She suddenly has started just horrible unmanageable behavior...constant tantrums, talking back, won't follow directions, won't change activities, won't sit at the table for a meal. We are at a loss with discipline, as nothing seems to work. Today was a particularly bad day. We are hoping going to school and seeing how others act will help improve her behavior.
